Who we are

Girlie Biker Gang started on Aug 29, 2026, when Syd's bike plans fell through but she still wanted to go far with friends. Nine girlies showed up throughout the day, and she didn't ride a single one of her 50 miles alone. It's been growing ever since.

Meet Sydney

@syddkay

Sydney (Syd) is the founder and ride leader of Girlie Biker Gang. Running was her first love, but after an injury in 2025 she found other ways to fill that space: triathlon, cross training and some elite-level spectating. An engineer by trade, Syd works in a male-dominated field, so she wanted a group where pink is a prominent force and girlies in Metro Detroit can go far together without needing to be experts first.

Each month she plans the ride and keeps the group chat buzzing. Fair warning: she knows nothing about bike repair and is 100% a call-an-Uber girlie if she gets a flat. What she does know is how to make a first-timer feel at home.

"Show up raw and your full self. Whatever you can put into the pedals that day is more than we could ask for."

Getting stronger overall

Low-impact cardio

Build your engine without the pounding that running puts on your knees and hips.

Cross-training

Work different muscles than your main sport so you stay balanced and avoid overuse injuries.

Active recovery

An easy spin the day after a hard workout gets blood flowing and helps your legs bounce back.

Strength and endurance

Hills build your legs and core, and longer rides build the stamina you need on race day.
